In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it
Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people’s everyday lives.
We’re looking for a Treasury Manager who is resourceful, organized, and proactive, with a strong ability to manage cash flows and optimize treasury operations. As part of this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring smooth coordination between our business and treasury teams by overseeing cash movements, tracking agent network recoveries, and executing daily financial transactions as we scale in Mali and Burkina Faso.

In this role, you'll:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all cash movement.
- Use internal tools to forecast cash needs for our agent network.
- Follow up on integration requests to ensure proper funding for partners.
- Enhance data sheets to improve liquidity forecasting and trend analysis.
- Support the automation of Treasury tools for Mali and Burkina Faso.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration with banking partners.
Tasks include:
- Act as the key link with the agent management team to coordinate cash-related activities.
- Initiate daily master agent wire transfers and oversee the funding schedule for integration partners.
- Collaborate with the Receivables team on partner-related payments.
- Identify and flag potential cash losses for follow-up.
- Work closely with partner banks to ensure cash deficits for agents and regions are promptly addressed.
- Maintain strong relationships between the company and its banking partners.
- Partner with software engineers to develop and enhance treasury tools.
- Provide reports and recommendations to the BF/ML Treasury Manager to optimize cash utilization and recovery.
- Serve as a backup for the BF Treasury Manager.

- Location is primarily based in Bamako.
- Work authorization in Mali is required.
- This is a permanent position.

Requirements
- Fluent in French and English; proficiency in Bambara is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience as a back-office agent in a relevant field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in financial institutions such as banks, money transfer services, or microfinance.
- Tech-savvy, with strong proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-organized and adaptable to changing environments.
- Experience in fintech or telecom is a plus.
